Phantasm, the renowned quartet of viols, has won a 2004 Gramophone Award for its recording of Consorts by Orlando Gibbons
Phantasm's unique sound and dazzling approach to viol playing have catapulted it to international prominence. The quartet was founded in 1994 by Laurence Dreyfus, who had a vision to transform the traditional viol consort into a dynamic chamber group capable of the most passionate lyricism. The group's members - Wendy Gillespie, Jonathan Manson, Markku Luolajan-Mikkola and Dreyfus - are all renowned period-instrument performers in their own right.
