| Price: Sek. 155 | Almost all of Landini’s 150 surviving works are found in the Squarcialupi Codex, an early 15th-century manuscript that places a portrait of each composer at the beginning of his section. His is the largest group of any composer’s works. (A very expensive facsimile of the codex was published a few years ago.) Landini’s portrait is probably the most familiar page because it is reproduced so often. Of this large body of music, this disc offers 13 ballate, two madrigali, and the only known caccia. The only duplication on Anonymous 4’s disc is Muort’ oramai. It may be noted that the group does not duplicate any of the pieces that they recorded earlier under Page. Five pieces are first recordings, bringing the Landini discography up to at least 83 pieces, more than half of the repertoire. |
