Disc No: DACOCD 357-359 The Danacord Carl Nielsen Collection has a wide selection of the historical recordings made by friends and pupils of Carl Nielsen. Nearly all the items presented in these six volumes are first recordings and they have remained of special historical importance to musicians ever since.
Among the many precious recordings in the collection, Carl Nielsen's son-in-law Emil Telmányi performs the violin sonatas and is the soloist in the violin concerto. This collection would not be complete without the legendary Wind Quintet which is included in a very succesful new digital transfer.
From solo instrument to opera this collection has early recordings of all the most important works composed by Carl Nielsen and its historical importance cannot be underestimated. The last volume contains songs and choral works and includes a newly found test recording of the 2nd symphony.
