Here is an entire CD devoted to the music of Chri topher Tye, the great sixteenth Century English composer, organist and priest. Tye lived throughout one of the most turbulent periods of English history, from Henry VII to Elizabeth I, and spent a large part of his life at Ely Cathedral. He was a very important composer of English Church Music - particularly masses, services, motets and anthems - as well as of instrumental pieces, notably a superb set of 19 In Nomines for Consort of Viols.
