Oehms on sale Violinist Rüdiger Lotter, one of the up-and-coming stars of the early music scene along with his ensemble Lyriarte, recognizes the signs of the times: direct exchange between protagonists of historically informed interpretation and the so-called “new music” is now the order of the day. As a dialog partner for his new CD, Rüdiger Lotter chose violinist Irvine Arditti, who has written and influenced history as the founder of the world’s most renowned string quartet for new music. On this SACD, we hear each interpreter playing solo works from his respective “home territory” as well as the two together performing duo compositions by Biber and Berio. The two interpretory positions meet in an exciting encounter that shows how close different kinds of music can be – despite the epochs between them! |
