Oehms on sale Not only was it a musical adventure: Baritone Thomas E. Bauer and pianist Siegfried Mauser took Schubert’s “Winterreise” on tour from Moskow to Peking via the Trans-Siberian Railroad. These concerts presented the oppor-tunity for Schubert’s music to encounter cultures with completely different emotional backgrounds, experiences and traditions, making their peoples all the more open, curious and spontaneous in their reactions to Schubert’s jour-ney into a strange land. The result: exceptional, highly inspired interpretations of this great Lied cycle. Renowned filmmaker Klaus Voswinckel accompanied the artists with a camera team and produced a stirring documentary called “Schubert in Siberia”. |
