Erland von Koch, one of our most versatile composers, has shown himself to be a master of most genres, from film music to symphonies, quartets and children's opera. This recording features a number of his central works, including the Saxophone Concerto, with its original dedicatee, Sigurd Raschér, as soloist. Leif Aare, writing in the newspaper Dagens Nyheter, described "Karaktärer för violin och piano" (1980) as "outstandingly artistic examples of the otherwise lost art of writing short virtuoso pieces. Here, of course, with a distinctly Nordic inflection." | |
