| The 1890s saw the Swedish female composer Helena Munktell´s breakthrough in Paris, and many of her weks were performed, especially her songs. She was the first Swedish composer to be influenced by the French stylistic renewal. Another unusual feature of her music is that it deviates from the harmonic norm of Swedish music of the time. It is clear that Helena was strongly influenced by her teacher Vincent d'Indy. | |
