Musica Sveciae | The "Great Power" period of Swedish history inspired a vision of the Baltic. The coastal provinces were conquered and there developed a Germano-Swedish Baltic culture. In this community, music became a part of a "Gesamtkunstwerk" designed to pay tribute to God and the earthly ruler. Other music was completely untrammelled by the vocabulary of power. Both aspects are present in this production, comprising first-time recordings of Baroque music by Johann Valentin Meder, Michael Hahn, Ludwig Busbetzky and others. |
