The Pleiadi is the Italian name of the Seven Sisters, a cluster of many more stars that is located in the Taurus constellation well known from the dawn of the humanity. In the Greek mythology, the god Zeus is captured by the beauty of Pleione’s daughters and to give them the immortality he turned them in to bright stars. The name Pleiadi may come from “peleiaes”: flock of doves or even from “plein”: to sail, because those stars show the raise of the spring after the winter time and with it even the good season for the navigation. Today like in the past the Pleiadi start to raise in the morning sky in August in the northern hemisphere and are nice to the naked eye view specially in the winter nights. |
