Disc No: 8.224049 C.E.F. Weyse was born in Altona (Holstein) and came to Copenhagen in 1789. He made a quick career as a pianist, organist and composer, and from 1819 became composer to the Royal Court and a central figure in the musical life of the capital. Public performances of the cantatas he wrote for the church and for special occasions at court were among the most remarkable events in Copenhagen's concert life.
