The Choir of the great Cathedral of Canterbury is heir to a great tradition of music making, stretching back beyond St. Thomas à Becket to St. Augustine, who began his mission to convert the English to Christianity here. Augustine himself was appointed the first Archbishop of Canterbury in AD 601.
